1. What Are Cookies & Local Storage?
Cookies and modern browser storage (such as LocalStorage and SessionStorage) are small pieces of data saved on your computer, tablet, or smartphone when you navigate websites and cloud applications.
Inside the platform, MyEduOS uses a minimal set of local browser storage designed only to keep your session secure, authenticate your institution, and remember personal interface display preferences. On our public marketing website we also use analytics cookies, described in section 4.
2. Categories of Storage We Use
Unlike consumer platforms that track browsing habits across the web, MyEduOS uses only three categories:
- 1. Strictly Necessary & Security Storage: These items are essential for the software to function. They allow teachers, students, parents, and administrators to sign in securely, navigate between modules without re-entering credentials, and protect against malicious cross-site scripting attacks.
- 2. Functional Preference Storage: These items enhance usability by remembering minor device-level display settings (such as dark mode preferences or a collapsed navigation sidebar). They contain no personal identification data.
- 3. Website Analytics (public website only): Cookies set by Google Analytics on our public marketing pages, so we can see which pages are useful and how many people ask for a demo. They are never set inside the signed-in platform or on an institution's own address.
3. Inventory of Browser Storage Items
The table below details every cookie and local storage key utilized across MyEduOS portal screens. None of these are used for analytics:
| Storage Key / Cookie | Classification | Lifespan | Operational Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| eduos_token / session | Essential / Strictly Necessary | Session / 7 Days | Maintains authenticated access between page transitions and authenticates API queries. |
| eduos_tenant_id | Essential / Strictly Necessary | Session | Scopes requests to your specific institution and campus database partition. |
| eduos_csrf_token | Essential / Security | Session | Cryptographic token that prevents Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) on form submissions. |
| eduos_theme | Functional / Preferences | Persistent (1 Year) | Remembers your interface color mode preference (Light, Dark, or System Match). |
| eduos_sidebar_collapsed | Functional / Preferences | Persistent (1 Year) | Remembers whether you prefer the dashboard navigation sidebar pinned open or collapsed. |
| eduos_table_page_size | Functional / Preferences | Persistent (90 Days) | Remembers your preferred rows-per-page setting on student rosters and fee ledgers. |
4. Analytics on Our Public Website
On our public marketing website only, we use Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC. It tells us which pages are visited, how visitors arrived (for example, from a search engine), the type of device and browser used, and an approximate location such as the city or country, which Google derives from the connection. When you send our contact or demo form, it records that a form was sent and which topic you chose -- never your name, email address, phone number or message.
We use this information only to improve our website. We do not use it for advertising, and Google Analytics never runs inside the platform, so no student, parent, staff or institution records are ever sent to it.
| Cookie | Classification | Lifespan | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Analytics (public website only) | Persistent (2 Years) | Set by Google Analytics to tell visits from the same browser apart, so we can count visitors without identifying them. |
| _ga_<ID> | Analytics (public website only) | Persistent (2 Years) | Set by Google Analytics to keep track of the current visit (session) on our public website. |
5. Managing and Clearing Your Cookies
You have full control over browser storage on your device:
- Opting out of analytics: You can block or delete the analytics cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking them doesn't affect the platform in any way.
- Clearing Storage: You can clear cookies and site data at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will immediately sign you out of MyEduOS and reset your interface preferences to defaults.
- Disabling Storage: If you configure your browser to block all cookies and local storage, you will not be able to log in to MyEduOS, as session tokens are required for authenticated API communication.
6. Updates & Contact
If we introduce any new storage or analytics in future releases, this policy will be promptly updated.
